Description

A loop route from the Dewdrop Range up the Red Plateau Escarpment to the Rim and back down via the Dewdrop Trail

  • most of the route up is off-trail on the spine of a rugged ridge
  • this is a steep route involving a little bit of scrambling, but the whole route is safe as long as common sense is used
  • the hike is best done with good boots and trekking poles
  • article on the route – Ragged Red Ridge
  • a scenic route
  • this hike will challenge fitness levels
  • a smaller group so we can keep track of everyone
  • An etiquette reminder – Conversations on the trail should be kept at a muted conversational level/volume so that other members of the group do not have to hear the dialogue.   A number of our members also like to listen for the sounds of nature while out hiking on the trails.
