Summit of Mt Baldy

Summit of Mt Baldy

DSCN1064

Come join us on a new trail completed last year by the Shuswap Alliance Trail to Mt Baldy in Sorrento. This is a beautiful 6 k round trip trail that will take you uphill in a zig zag fashion through a forested area to reach a scenic viewpoint over Shuswap lake. We will hike through a Douglas forest, ravines and perennial creeks while crossing several small bridges. A must see trail as it also encompass hiking through a poplar area , trembling Aspen and cottonwoods. The trembling Aspen area will take your breath away as it just “appears” when you least expect it and I can guarantee that we will take a few moments to enjoy this natural beauty and yes…cameras will come out! After a 3 k climb, we will reach our destination to a scenic viewpoint of Shuswap lake and Copper Island where we will have lunch and enjoy the view.

– Bring a lunch, water, mosquito repellent, your ten essentials, hiking poles will be helpful, camera and of course, your smile!

-Be prepared to stay with the group at all time and to see wild flowers and plenty of fungus and mushrooms along the way.

-This hike should take about 3 hours including breaks and lunch at the viewpoint.

– Remember that this hike is a steady climb for 3 k.

– For those coming from Kamloops, meet at the Valleyview Square in front of Shoppers lot at 09:30 sharp to arrange carpooling and be prepared to leave shortly after.

– The Kamloops participants will meet the Chase group at the Chase Petro Can at around 10:10 and caravan from there to the trailhead. We will take Eslon Rd on the right from the highway just as we reach Sorrento. We should be at the trailhead by 10:30

-Please remember to pay the driver $10.00 if you are carpooling.
