Description

  • This event is for our new Kamloops Hiking Club backpackers.
  • YOU MUST BE PHYSICALLY FIT AND FULLY PREPARED FOR BACKCOUNTRY CAMPING TO ATTEND THIS EVENT.
  • Some of our experienced KHC backpackers will be leading the way.
  • The Backpacker’s Seminar in April is a  prerequisite for this trip.
  • Participants must be leader approved.
  • Come join us for a taste of the Berg Lake Trail in Mount Robson Provincial Park.
  • There will be 2 groups going in and meeting at Kinney Lake.
  • Group 1:  Will will leave Kamloops mid morning  Friday, March 25th and arrive at the Mount Robson Information Centre by 2 pm.  Next we will register for our tent sites and watch a short required video.  On the trail no later than 3 pm for a 2-3 hour 7 km hike to Kinney Lake to set up our tents and have dinner.  This will be a steady uphill climb to the lake then a rolling up and down trail around the east side of the lake to the Kinney Lake Campground.  On Saturday morning, we will be up early to hike up to Berg Lake if we can.  The return day hike to Berg and back to Kinney will be 28 km with a day pack.  You will need ice cleats for the day hike.  
  • Group 2:  Leave Kamloops early morning Saturday, May 26th for a 4 hour drive to the Mount Robson Information Centre.  Next we will register then watch a short required video.   It will be a steady uphill climb to Kinney Lake then a rolling up and down trail around the east side of the lake to the Kinney Lake Campground.  Once at the campground, we will put up our tents then day hike up to meet the Berg Lake hikers coming down.  You will need ice cleats for the day hike.
  • Both groups:  We will stay overnight together at Kinney Lake Campground on Saturday, May 26th.   We will hike 7 km out on Sunday, May 27th.  We should be back in Kamloops by 5 or 6 pm.
  • This is a very scenic world heritage trail.
