Description

A mid-February snowshoe (or winter hike) in the hills around Kamloops

  • dress for the conditions
  • meet to carpool at the Batchelor Hills meetup spot
  • drive to the trailhead (winter driving conditions)
  • snowshoe or hike for about 2-2.5 hours, but if the weather is fine, we may go longer
  • stop for lunch along the way
  • recommended – gaiters, poles, good winter boots, layered clothing, something to sit on, a thermos, gloves, toque, etc.
  • tentative route – upper grasslands from the McQueen Lake pullout through to Clay Lake, past the homestead, over the ridge, along the flanks of Clapperton Hill to the viewpoint and lunch spot, down to Stony Lake, out to the ponds and return by the ponds to the vehicle
