Description

A route combining established trails, old trails, secret trails, and some routework to connect the whole loop

  • carpool to the trailhead on the Isobel Lake Road
  • hike the now-abandoned Forestry Capital Trail (I know the route) to Isobel Lake
  • hike around Isobel Lake then turn up to the top of the Isobel Lookout Trail (no longer maintained)
  • traverse open forest and game trails (1 km) down to the McQueen FSR, then bear west
  • strike off on a not-well-known single track to the shores of Griffin Lake
  • Follow the Griffin Lake Trail and then the FSR back to the start
  • 9.3 km of hiking with a lunch stop along the way
  • we will stay together since no one else knows the route – steady pace with only a few stops and quick photo shots only; in this way we keep our muscles and joints warm and maintain a fitness benefit
  • a small group hike to make it easier for the (elderly) hike leader
  • dress for the weather
  • a scenic route
  • the deadline for registering or cancelling is at 8:00 on Sunday
  • watch the listing for updates
  • (I will out a map below once I finish it)
