Description
We will snowshoe the McGillivray Lake Cabin Trail up to the cabin and McGillivary Lake. This trail is 3 kms one way and climbs about 750 m (1500 feet) with steep sections. We will lunch, rest and warm up in the cabin before returning via the McGillivary Lake Cabin Return trail. This trail will take us past Little McGillivary Lake and across the dog sled trails.
When crossing/sharing the cross country ski trails, please be mindful to stay to the side and off the ski tracks.
The entire trip is about 8 to 10 km and is considered an Advanced Trail according to Sunpeaks Adventures.
Meet at the Paul Lake Husky Meetup for 8:45 am to carpool, leaving by 9:00 am. We should be on the trail by 10 am. Approx $5 for carpooling depending on the vehicle and number of passengers.
Please bring water, lunch and dress for the weather.
Snowshoe tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the Day Lodge.

We've been in Kamloops for about 11 years (2nd time around) so hiking/snowshoeing is still relatively new for me here. I've hiked a lot in the Lower Mainland/Whistler area and now we enjoy the freedom of retirement to be able to walk/hike in the UK, Europe and elsewhere in the world.
I enjoy hiking on single or double track paths with small groups and generally keep up a moderate to steady pace.
