Description

Buse Lake Protected Area  is located between the Barnhartvale Road and Robbins Range Roads (between Eagle Point Golf course and Highway 97c – the road to Vernon)

Buse Lake is immediately south of, and adjacent to, the Barnhartvale road and is the lowest elevation point in the park. From the lake the terrain rises steadily up to the pinnacle shown in the picture (a 550m elevation gain).

I scouted the route a few days ago, there are no established trails , but the forests are open and easily walked through. It took me about an hour and 45 minutes to climb from the lake to near the base of the pinnacle – a steep and steady climb, but good footing.

The pinnacle viewpoint can also be reached by an easy 1.5km km (one way)  from the Robbins Range Road. (not much of an outing on it’s own)

Depending on the will of the group, we can either explore this park as a loop from below, OR pre-position vehicles at both ends of the traverse the park from south to north (mostly down hill).  Driving time between the two trail heads is probably about 20 minutes.

Please contact the leader if you are intending to bring a dog. Be advised that the area is heavily used by deer, so if fido is prone to chasing after them, be prepared to keep him/her on a leash (or leave at home)

In addition to the 10 essentials, supportive footwear is recommended as we will be contouring/descending a number of soft slopes.

Bring Lunch, snacks and enough water for the day.
