Description

YET ANOTHER UPDATE (dog-goned weather!) Monday at 8:00 AM:  the forecast changed overnight to partly cloudy skies for this evening, so I’m going to give tonight a try once again.  My apologies for the schedule-shifting, but in winter month’s, full moons are always going to be dicey viewing with all the cloud cover we get.  We will definitely go tonight – see you this evening at 5:30 at Valleyview Arena👍🏻.  Lisa

UPDATE Sunday 3:00 PM:  multiple weather agencies are forecasting cloudy skies and 40% mixed precipitation for Monday evening.  Tuesday evening is slated to be only “partly cloudy”, which would still enable us to see the moon.

Due to the weather, I am proposing to move the snowshoe to Tuesday evening.  The moon will still largely look full and be utterly lovely.  I will still give a presentation on the night sky.  If Tuesday works for you, just leave your booking in place.  If you can not make it on Tuesday eve, then please cancel your spot.

Looking forward to seeing you all there on Tuesday – fingers crossed for clear skies!🤞  Lisa

UPDATE Saturday:  The weather forecast for Monday evening as of Saturday evening is iffy – might be partly cloudy on Monday evening, or might be socked in.  Please check back here Sunday night for further updates.  If there’s good opportunity to view the moon, we will go.  If socked in, we will not go.  Cheers, Lisa  : )

PLEASE NOTE:  This hike is a NIGHT HIKE and is subject to weather:  if conditions are NOT conducive for moon/stargazing, we will cancel.  Check here the night before the hike for weather updates!  YOU MUST HAVE A HEADLAMP & SNOWSHOES TO ATTEND THIS EVENT.

Buse Hill Full Wolf Moon & Astronomy presentation night hike/snowshoe:

We will meet up at the Valleyview Arena meeting spot, and convoy up to Buse Hill, where we will don snowshoes and headlamps and head up to the top to take in the stunning night-time views.  This will be the night of the Full Wolf Moon, so I will talk a little about what the Full Wolf Moon is all about, as well as some interesting facts about other visible celestial objects.  I’ll bring along a pair of Astronomy Binoculars for moon-gazing – there is nothing like seeing the full moon up close!

Dress very very warmly as we will be at the top for awhile, and it can be windy up there.  Maybe even pack a blanket to wrap up in!  Hot tea, snack, etc.  Once we have our fill of the moon we will head back down.
