Buse Hill trailhead
UPDATE FRIDAY, August 13: as of 6:00pm, skies are socked in and the smoke forecast for tomorrow morning calls for heavy smoke. This hike is cancelled.
- This is a pop-up hike SUBJECT TO CLEARISH SKIES – we will not hike if there is too much smoke. Check this posting for updates.
An early-morning-beat-the-heat-hike at Buse Hill Trails. The Trail: Approximately 3.5km out-n-back hike, short, a bit steep, with incredible views at the top. Great spot for quiet morning coffee. The trail head crosses private property but the Kamloops Hiking Club has permission to park and hike – much appreciation to the Buse Creek Ranch folks!👍🏻
Meetup is at the Valleyview Arena, 7:30am, then caravan to the trailhead. Originally, we were going to hike around Barnes Lake but the caretakers there are quite concerned about wildfire, and do not wish people to use the trails at this time. Thus – Buse!👍🏻
Bring coffee/tea/breakfast/snack, hat, lots of water, and, as always, the Ten Essentials. Pace will be easy/moderate, with a break at the top for the aforementioned coffee with a view, etc.
On the way down, we may take the opportunity to explore around the small lake there. Time/smoke/group consensus permitting…

My hiking style is a relaxed one - to best take in all the beauty around us.Hunting new wildflowers and fungi will often cause me to be looking everywhere except the trail.
I like to think up unusual/themed hikes (nature is fun), including Art Hikes, Historical Hikes, Wacky Race Events, Santa Stocking Hunts, Halloween Hikes, Photography Hikes, Astronomy/Full Moon Night Hikes, Fossil Hikes, etc.I also seek out interesting things to see and share in nature - gorgeous waterfalls and views, crazy geological formations, scenic forests, and other very special places.
I'm always open to hearing new hike ideas from other hikers.
