Membership Renewals

• Of 260 members, about 140 renewed in February.
• There may be more in March.
• One hike leader did not renew and will not be a member in 2019 (we have spoken to him).

New Memberships

• We opened registration to new members on March 1st and lots of registrations started coming in right away.
• Frith Powell (Membership Services) is managing the process and has been actively disabling unrenewed accounts, updating a database to ensure that all three requirements are met (form, fee, confirmed waiver), creating new accounts, and sending emails to applicants.
• Di Smith is monitoring Paypal and E-transfers.   Our bank’s (BoM) website was down this morning so that may affect some e-transfers (we can’t do anything about it but wait until the banking services are back up).
• New members who complete all the requirements will have new website accounts and will be able to book into posted events soon.
• We will send a Welcome and Info newsletter to all new members in March.
• The Board of Directors will have a Director with the responsibility for New Members Liaison for the spring of 2019.

KHC Events

• With the poor weather and poor hiking conditions, we have had very few events in February, but there will be new members interested in getting out to try their first events so hike leaders are encouraged to post events with new members in mind.
• We have one posted event for all members on March 24th.
• Unrenewed members may not retain spots on summer events and their names will be removed if they are registered.   Available spots are for registered members first.   Guests can be added at a later date if the event does not fill.

Minors

• We have some interest from new members in bringing children along on club events.   We have a policy in place (go to the Minors Page) but the Board is currently reviewing it.
