Thanks to the Kamloops Trails Alliance
The Isobel Lake Trail is now finished and we recently hiked on the snow around the Isobel Lake Trail. The low-mobility trail is ready for wheelchairs and persons with disabilities. The hiking trail is in good shape and there are new mountain bike/snowshoe trails linked to the lake loop. Many organizations helped with the project, including the Kamloops Hiking Club and the Federation of Mountain Clubs.
There are two docks that go out into the lake, one for disabled access to a boat launch. We saw benches, signs, and many improvements for everyone.
BC Rec Sites and Trails are to be congratulated in working with the Trails Alliance to provide a multi-use trail system, campground, and recreational destination at Isobel Lake.
We were also pleased to see some new mountain bike/snowshoe trails linked to the Isobel Lake Trail (but they need better trail names than the ones chosen by the mountain bikers).
Special thanks to Al Michel who led the project for the Trails Alliance and to Richard Doucette for his leadership with the 3 year initiative. Thanks from all hikers, dog walkers, walkers, mountain bikers, wheelchair users, and also from the Kamloops Hiking Club.
