Isobel Lake Trails
I am sharing a note from the Cycling Organization about the Isobel Lake area in winter:
“I should have also mentioned in my previous email some minor changes up at Isobel Lake this Winter. I work closely with the School District and the Province on access up there. We have a five year agreement with Rec Sites and Trials to groom Fat Bike Trails in the area. Over the past couple years the School District has dealt with more Winter issues with people getting stuck, camp fires on the roadway, garbage, needles etc… It has been increasing since they took the locked gate out several years ago that used to be right close to the SD73 driveway into the Education Centre. Generally is it is weekend warriors looking to play with their 4×4’s and burn pallets. We also have had issues with side by sides and 4×4’s damaging our winter groomed trails. This year we are going to berm the snow just past the SD 73 driveway, once the snow is high enough there will be no vehicle access past this point. The Province and the School District have created a new small parking area right out near the main Lac du Bois road that we will utilize for Fat Biking. We welcome shoe shoes on the trails we groom up there but ask that hikers without snow shoes to please refrain from using the groomed trails. The post hole foot prints make riding difficult for the fat bikes and create a whole bunch of extra work for our groomers. We do spend a considerable amount of time grooming the 30 plus km of trails up there. The trails can be found on Trailforks (click the winter tab). We have utilized a lot of the old xc ski trails routes up there as the grades work very well with Fat Bikes. If you have any questions on the network feel free to drop me a line.”
We will be out there to check out the trails this winter once there is enough snow.  Watch for an event listing.
