Adopt-a-Trail Program
The City of Kamloops has an Adopt-a-Trail program and we are a registered group, taking responsibility for helping to keep a loop trail clean. We wanted to keep this simple so we picked a trail with good road access and good parking and a dumpster right at the end of the trail. Our trail is in the Valleyview Nature Park. It includes the main hiking trail (Sagebrush) then goes right onto Coyote and returns to the Arena by the Sasquatch Trail. This loop is only 1.5 km and takes about 40 minutes to hike, but there are adjacent trails too that can also use some TLC. KHC may schedule an event or individuals can help on their own or in small groups.
Some guidelines:
- Head out whenever you can, on your own schedule.
- We recommend wearing gloves.
- Bring a garbage bag with you.
- It is your choice what to collect. Put litter into your garbage bag.
- Don’t handle feces. We sometimes just use a stick to flick it into the bush.
- Complete your loop and drop the bag in the dumpster bin at the corner of the arena, right at the end of the loop route.
KHC would like to thank our members for helping out. If you have helped out with any cleanups on this trail or on any other KHC hike, let us know. We will put the names into a “hat” and award a gift certificate each season. Hike leaders can also submit names of members at the end of a hike. Comment to an event or send an email to khc@kamloopshikingclub.net.
