May 2020 Newsletter
May brought more sunshine, some cooler weather, and rain which created some beautiful green landscapes abundant with flowers for our hikes.
The club continues to follow the social distancing expectations from Dr. Henry and the government. The board continues to monitor the pandemic and recommendations from the government for reopening hikes and activities. We will adapt our outings accordingly as we receive new information. The safety and wellbeing of our members continue to be our top priority.
- A reminder that registration is closed for 2020 and there are currently no guest spots available. There are currently 238 KHC members, including two honorary and two-lifetime members. The club has closed registration as there are currently limits on the number of members who can participate in KHC hikes due to Covid-19. The club is limited to the number of people it can have on a hike as we are dedicated to following the guidelines and expectations set out by the government for the safety of our members. Despite that, the club hosted 24 amazing hikes with one hike cancellation due to weather. Thank you to all our volunteer hike leaders for the time they put in to lead these wonderful hikes so that we can safely enjoy time together in the outdoors. If a member is interested in becoming a hike leader please contact our hike leader liaison Sheila Powell at chillipowell2@gmail.com.
- Thank you to hike leaders Carol Moslin, John Moslin, Gerry Hoye, Lisa Boutry, Doug Smith, Dianne Smith, Lori Rilkoff, Sheila Powell, who led hikes in the month of May. We thank you for all the volunteer hours and commitment you give to the club so that we can enjoy hiking with like-minded people and experience new or familiar trails.
- This month’s winner of the leader recognition voucher is Carol Moslin! A big thank you Carol for all your amazing hikes and leadership!
