Location Information:
The area just south of McQueen Lake has a number of routes in the upper grasslands
- This area is owned by the Nature Conservancy of Canada and is not part of Lac du Bois Grasslands Provincial Park
- park either at the kiosk just before the south end of McQueen Lake and walk back 300m to the trailhead or park carefully at the trailhead at N50° 49.127′ W 120° 26.770′
- trails branch off to Clay Lake or through the grasslands towards Stony Lake

- article – Clay Lake route
- it is also possible to link over to the Lac du Bois area using the Homesteaders Hike route
- access to the East Side of Opax Mountain from the Mud Lake Road
- this is a good wildflower area in April, May, and June
- navigating is required for all these routes but with such open forest, exploration is feasible too
