KHChronicles – January, 2021
A mid-month KHC digest:
- Kamloops continues to have a mild winter, allowing us to walk or hike in the valley or snowshoe at higher elevations.  Members are still getting out, but not in organized groups.
- Our thanks to the New Hike Leaders and Co-Leaders interest group for joining a Zoom discussion.  Potential interest comes from Claudia Wright, Cindy Kohnert, Jennifer Lincoln, Gerry McDougall, and Maureen Thorkelson.  Support was provided by Sheila Powell, Helen Gendron, Chris Becker , Nicole Yanko and Lisa Boutry, with our thanks.
- Additional Zoom meetings are planned.   For anyone wanting to join a Zoom meeting, there are help videos available online – Zoom Help.
- If members have ideas of a Zoom meeting they might be interested in, please contact us.
- BC Parks has purchased additional lands (8 ha) to add to Lac du Bois Grasslands. The land is off Westsyde Road below the Deep Lake area so this may mean improved access to the Deep Lake Trails in the future.
- Trails Update – Hull Hill Route
- The Board of Directors is meeting on Zoom on January 21st.  Under discussion are a number of items, including Membership information for 2021.  Another newsletter will follow shortly afterward.
Tourism Kamloops has some videos on hiking for us to watch over the winter months:
- Hiking Battle Bluff
- Meet Kamloops Hikers – Wayne Parsons and Johanna Short
- Meet Kamloops Hikers – Samantha deSouza
- Meet Local Hiker & Photographer: Tamra Jaeger
- Meeting Kamloops Hikers: Jordan Fraser and Doug Smith
- A Picnic at Balancing Rock
