KHChronicles – December, 2020
A mid-month KHC digest:
- Kamloops Outdoor Club has been following up with the closure of the Gregson Trail.   Here is an article in Kamloops this Week.
- If you are thinking about getting into some backcountry skiing, here is an online book – Is Backcountry Skiing for You?
- The Skmana Trails (Chase) have a Facebook page – link.
- From Overlander Ski Club’s website you can see a live trailcam and can see several updates each day on conditions.
- Snowshoeing Magazine (www.snowshoemag.com) has a good guide for novices – Snowshoeing for Beginners
- Trail Reports will be featured in short news articles in the Announcements section from time to time.
- The Isobel Lake Trails are for hiking and walking in most seasons, but they turn to Fat Bike and Snowshoe trails in winter.   Hikers and walkers are asked to not walk on trails since it spoils the trails for fat biking and snowshoeing.  KHC supports this initiative and has donated some funds for further development of the trails.  More information will be provided in a News Announcements post soon.
We have been updating the main snowshoeing location/trails pages on the website.  Links are provided here:
- Stake Lake
- Lac le Jeune
- Sun Peaks
- Bush Lake/Dogwood Marshes
- Lodgepole Lake
- Harper Mountain
- Isobel Lake
- Upper Lac du Bois Grasslands
- Skmana Lakes
- Next month – more updates – Hull Hill, Logan Lake, Kane Valley, Timber Lake, Sovereign Lakes, Larch Hills, Wells Gray, Lac du Bois Trailhead, etc.
Additional information will be added/updated on other snowshoeing areas over the winter.
