KHC October Newsletter
October was filled with spooktacular beautiful fall hikes as the leaves changed to their vibrant colors, a nip in the air, frost on the grasslands. We also had a teaser with snow on some of our higher elevation hikes. Snowshoe season is just around the corner. Keep an eye out for upcoming snowshoe events that bring an abundance of winter wonderland excitement!
Tip: events fill up fast, therefore check the website daily for new postings or cancellations.

Backpack/Camp Meeting
In October, a number of KHC hike leaders met to plan the 2021 backpack and basecamp season. We have a strong group with lots of fun exciting trails picked. The group will be meeting again on November 15th at 6:00 pm to finalize some dates and details. Watch for backpacks and basecamps on the KHC website and for more information you can click here. Hike leaders will be posting events and drafts as they come available. Photo credit: Lois Rexin-Hunter
As a club, we are continuing to follow the social distancing expectations from Dr. Henry and the government. We are limiting our events to 5 KHC members per hike leader. If an event has two hike leaders, we ask that you make sure there are distinct groups of 6 totally separate on the trail. We thank you for respecting social distancing on KHC hikes.
A reminder that
- Hikers will maintain at least 2 m distance from each other.
- At all stops, social distancing will be required.
- Any member who is not well should not participate in KHC events for the safety of everyone.
- Washing of hands, wearing gloves and masks, coughing or sneezing into the elbow, not touching the face, carry sanitizer, etc. are all encouraged by KHC.
- KHC members are expected to abide by KHC’s social distancing policy. Non-compliance with safety requirements will not be accepted.
