KHC Newsletter – September, 2019
KHChronicles –
- Our thanks to the hike leaders who led events in September- Paulette Gendron, Judy Karr, Sam Chow, Doug Smith, Gerry Hoye, Sasha Lees, and Sheila Powell.  Hike leaders were also supported by co-leaders for most events.
- The winner of the KHC draw for hike leaders for September was Sasha Lees.
- Here is FMCBC’s September Newsletter.
- KHC is a member of the Kamloops Sports Council.  News items and newsletters can be seen on their website – link.
- KHC is looking for new hike leaders (details).  We are most interested in leaders who can organize moderate hikes on weekends.  We can help with the computer part of the role of being a hike leader.
- A CBC article -“Think it’s OK to toss that apple core or banana peel in the woods? Think again.“
- Reservations are open for 2020 to hike Berg Lake or paddle the Bowron Lakes on October 1st (more info).
- Which was your favorite hike of the year so far?  Which hike would you like offered sometime in the future?  You can provide your feedback by commenting to this post.
- Summer camps for 2020 will see their first planning in the winter and they may be posted in late winter or early spring.  A few backpacks or camps are posted later in the spring.  If you have a favorite, let a hike leader know your interests.
- KHC has a Facebook page, a Facebook Group, and it participates in another larger Facebook group.  Members can post to the closed Facebook Group (Kamloops Hiking Club (Members Only)) or to the larger group (Kamloops Hiking) which has 1766 members.  Only admins and editors can post to the Facebook Page.  Pages are designed as the public “face” of a company or organization.  We often share photos from the Facebook Groups on our page and anything directly posted to the page also appears on our website in the middle column.
- KHC supports Kamloops Outdoor Club whenever we can .  We supported a successful FMCBC grant application in the spring.  Once our club is full, we recommend KOC to interested hikers each year.  When asked about the two clubs in Kamloops, we speak positively about KOC.  We follow their photo postings (link) and events (link).  We hope to do more joint events in the future. We have some current members who belong to both clubs.
- Minor changes are proposed for the KHC Guest Policy and can can be seen on the Guests Page.
- As fall settles in, most events will be in the local area.
No Events at this time.
