KHC Newsletter – October 21, 2018
KHChirps
- Our thanks to the hike leaders who posted events in the last 2 weeks – Sam Chow, Gerry Hoye, Ian Cornish, Judy Karr, Doug Smith, Paulette Gendron, Sheila Powell, Wendy Kineshanko, and Helen Gendron.
- Please check out the Special Event scheduled for October 24.  KHC is actively recruiting more hike leaders and co-leaders for the future and any interested members are encouraged to attend.   Our thanks to the Hike Leaders Committee (Sheila Powell, Gerry Hoye, Margo Mercier) for organizing this initiative.
- A small group of members ventured out recently to pick up trash on some of the trails in Valleyview Nature Park as part of the City’s Adopt a Trail Program.  Any Hike Leader can schedule a walk on these trails to help out keeping our trails garbage-free.
- KHC will be actively recruiting new committee members for 2019.  We are looking for someone to help (support) with Member Services (registration, waivers, fees, site accounts), someone to help with treasurer tasks, committee volunteers to help with New Member Services (communication, support, seasonal programs), and we are looking for a Vice President.
- Are you thinking of taking up snowshoeing this winter?  Watch for a new blog article on snowshoeing on this website.  We have held a workshop on getting into snowshoeing in the past.   If there is sufficient interest, we can do this again.  Comment to the site or contact us if you are interested.
- An added feature to the website available to logged-in members only are many pages of trail information. These include some driving directions, some notes, a map, a GPS map, a track download, and images that can be used for event listings or for members who are interested in seeing some trail photos. Much of the information is not visible to the public. We make this choice so that the information is a benefit of being a member. Each page takes time to develop, so a few will be added each week. The next 10 are provided below as links.
Some Reminders:
- Members, please make your own cancellations.  Hike leaders don’t do this for you.  Click Your Bookings on the Menu Bar to go to the cancel buttons.
- Hike Leaders, please check your Available Until settings (in Ticket Options) to ensure that members can cancel until the morning of the event, if possible.
- New Members, please note that KHC does not have a waiting list system and we do not expect our hike leaders to take this on.
