KHC Newsletter July 2021
July Newsletter
Welcome to summer hiking! I am relieved and excited to be able to post that the PHO orders are in our favor. To read about the new guidelines go here. As such KHC has updated its KHC Social Distancing Policy. Â
The weather is another issue. Is the apocalypse beginning? The past heatwave was exhausting and we encourage you to stay hydrated and hike during cooler times like morning or reschedule. Smoke is in the air due to wildfires and air quality is currently at 8 which is high risk. To check daily air quality you can go here. If you experience symptoms such as coughing and throat irritation, consider rescheduling strenuous activities outdoors.
Kamloops city parks are closed until further notice due to extreme wildfire danger. For more information on which parks go here.
A big thank you to our volunteer hike leaders!Â
Congratulations to Monika Taki who was June’s recipient of the leaders’ recognition prize! Thank you Monika for the amazing bikes and hikes you lead!
Congratulations to John Moslin who won the KHC member participant prize for June!
KHC hosted 25 events in June. Thank you to everyone who led events! Â
Stay Safe and see you on the trails,
Paulette Gendron – KHC President
