KHC Newsletter – January 13, 2019
KHChirps
- Our thanks to the hike leaders who have organized events in 2019 so far – Gerry Hoye, Judy Karr, Carole and John Moslin, Lois and Ed Hunter, Ernie Carson, Jeremy Markel, Sam Chow, Katherine Roberts, Ian Cornish, and Doug Smith.
- The winner of the December draw for hike leaders was John Moslin. A new draw for the month of January will occur early in February.
- Membership Renewals for current members will begin February 1st. A renewal button will be visible to logged-in members on the right side of the website. This will be a link to the Renewals Page which is also only visible to logged-in members.
- Membership fees will be same as in 2018 nut a new waiver is required of all members.
- No new member registrations will be accepted in February. New members can sign up on March 1st (possibly earlier if renewals are mostly completed).
- Here is the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC’s newsletter.
- At this time, KHC is either snowshoeing at higher elevations or hiking off-trail in the area. Established trails are icy. They can still be hiked as long as good traction devices are used. The hiking is good, though, in the grasslands, off-trail.
- KHC has renewed its membership with the Kamloops sport Council and the Kamloops Trails Alliance. We will be paying our insurance premiums and membership fees for the Federation of Mountain Clubs in the next month. This is our largest payment of the year. Our risk management plan is a sound one. The FMCBC General Commercial Liability Insurance Plan, our Directors and Officers Liability Coverage, our FMCBC/KHC waiver, and our approved/shared Club policies protect our leaders and members, allowing us to schedule and host a variety of events throughout the year.
