KHC Newsletter – February 24, 2019
KHCronicles
- Registration for new members opens in a few days. We will replace the Renew button with a Membership Registration button on the sidebar at that time.
- A reminder to 2018 members that if they do not renew their membership by March 1st, then they cannot hold a place on a backpacking event or any posted event since we reserve spaces for members first. We sent a reminder email to all unrenewed members on Feb. 23rd.
- We have about 130 members at this time.
- Under consideration at this time is to add a new category to KHC events – Dog Walks. This would be an option for a hike leader to post an event that is planned for dog owners. Selection of the right trail location, time, and date would be important and guidelines would need to be drafted (ie group size, leashes, etc.). This will be an item for the new Board of Directors so if you have ideas, please contact us.
- We are expecting to return to adding some paddling events to our schedule this year.
- The Board of Directors is developing a policy and procedure for proposed events that were planned for areas that are officially closed (avalanche danger, landslides, forest fires, flooding, emergencies, etc.). This will be concluded by the new Board of Directors in the spring.
- We have updated the information on bringing Minors (under 19) on hikes. See the Minors page on the website for the clarifications.
- Updated Trail information – Battle Mountain
- We hope to offer some events designed for new members in March.
- Our thanks to the hike leaders who led an event in February – Paulette Gendron, Sam Chow, Ernie Carson, Judy Karr, and Doug Smith.
