KHC Newsletter – December 16, 2018
KHChirps
- Members who register for an event are asked to check the event listing (and your email) the morning of the event to watch for updates.  Changes in weather conditions, driving conditions, or the leader’s status can result in cancellations, date changes, time changes, or adjusted locations.  Hike leaders try to meet the expectations of the event listing, but life is not always that simple.
- Any member who is having login challenges is reminded to read the recent New article – Logging-in-problems-and-solutions/
- A long term dispute over access to lakes in our area was decided by the BC Supreme Court recently.  Here is a link to the story – CBC News story
- Here is a link to FMCBC’s Winter Magazine – Cloudburst
- A good article from TheBark.com on the topic of hiking with your dog is provided here for your consideration – Proper-trail-etiquette-hiking-your-dog
- At the Kamloops Thompson Trails Alliance AGM, we thanked the Trails Alliance for their work on Isobel Lake.  They are now looking ahead and some trails and trailhead improvements under discussion includes access to Deep Lake, access to Mara Canyon, and possibly upgrading the Dunn Peak Trail. A planning meeting will be scheduled over the winter.
- This will be the last regular newsletter before Christmas so we would like to wish our members a Merry Christmas.
- An added feature to the website (available to logged-in members only) are many pages of trail information. These include some driving directions, some notes, a map, a GPS map, a track download, and images that can be used for event listings or for members who are interested in seeing some trail photos. Much of the information is not visible to the public. We make this choice so that the information is a benefit of being a member. Each page takes time to develop, so a few will be added each week. The next 10 + 1 are provided below as links.  Whenever an event is published a link to that location is provided (near the top).
