KHC Newsletter – April 15, 2018
KHChirps:
- Three potential events were posted this week with polls inserted into the event listing.  These are different kinds of events and we are interested to know whether there is interest from Club members or not.  The events and subsequent ones of that type can be enabled for registration if there is interest, but if not, they will be removed.  One event is the first in the Downriver Series, longer paddles down our rivers.  The second is a recreational paddling on local lakes initiative.  The third is a Scrambling event and if interest is out there, we can add more.  Deadlines for feedback have been established for all 3 events and we will notify members of the results.
- There is a new Blog article on the website – Rating the Difficulty of Hikes.
- KHC often supports good causes like Walk for Wildlife, Great Shoreline Cleanup, a search for a missing person, the grasslands cleanup, trail maintenance work parties, Adopt a Trail, Walks for a charity, and many other worthy causes, but if we do this, it will always require a leader to step forward.  A hike leader can be the organizer or a member can be the impetus, but in order to post a KHC event, he/she will have to recruit one of the Hike Leaders.  Alternately, he/she can do this informally/unofficially through a Facebook event.  We are prepared to support a wide range of events, but the volunteer leadership has to come from the person who want to support that cause.
- The Kamloops Naturalist Club has a new website.  Check it out by clicking this link.
- Thompson River Paddle Sports Club also has a new site and are looking for new members.  At this time they are offering a Learn to Paddle course – link.
No Events at this time.
