Description
This event should be a go, but I will wait for notification from the Board of Directors first. It would appear we can organize events for up to 10 people in this phase.
A longer hike to a remote spot
- meet at Lac du Bois (the lake) at 9:30
- hike for 15 km return with a break for lunch at the halfway viewpoint
- a steady climb for 3 km
- mosquitoes may be out
- since the route is not obvious and Opax is a good place to get lost, all participants are asked to stay with the leader
- we will stop for photos and to look at whatever interests us on the way up and back down so faster hikers will have to be patient
- Opax is a remote wilderness so best practices in backcountry hiking are planned
- 15 km takes about 4.5 hours (fitness is important for this hike)
- if it is warm, proper hydration is important
