Description
Plan A: Weather permitting we can camp at Sheila lake (6kms). The trail is clear with some snow patches. Not mandatory but can be helpful are spikes for your boots and poles. We will do a hike to go check out the Avalanche lilies that are now in bloom in the meadows. The trail is accessible from the parking lot to Sheila lake. Many tent pads are clear of snow. The road to the trail head is driveable by non 4×4 vehicles.
Plan B (crappy weather): Day hike Trophy meadow on Saturday. Car camp Saturday night in Wells Grey. Day hike Sunday in Wells Grey, for example, Pyramid mountain or Spahat falls, etc.
The Trophy Mountains rise 2,575 metres into the sky, with nine peaks towering over the Shuswap Highlands of Southern Wells Gray Provincial Park. Their northern slopes are steep and cloaked in glaciers while their southern slopes are gentle and dotted with alpine lakes and flower meadows. The Trophy Mountain meadows are one of the most easily accessible sub-alpine meadows in BC. http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/bcparks/explore/parkpgs/wg_tradd/
We will hike approx. 6kms to Sheila Lake and set up camp. From here we will hike to the summit and explore the area. We will hike out on Sunday after a leisure morning. A great relaxed backpack. Good for beginners and those wanting to get away for the weekend.
