Description

Rambles are short-notice, small group outings, with minimal organization for the hike leader, and possible date changes to find the best weather/smoke conditions.

Date Changed from Wednesday to Tuesday to avoid rain.

A Trophy Mountain hike in the Summer Summit Series

  • meet early for carpooling (8:00) – meet up at the Paul Lake Road
  • drive to Trophy Mountain
  • hike the Trophy Mountain Trail to Plateau of the Lakes, then we will ascend the ridge to the summit (Trophy 2)
  • return by the same route
  • article on Long Hill
  • article on Trophy Mountains
  • a buggy time of the year (bring spray)
  • we will keep moving to cope with the bugs
  •  a longer route with some steep sections to the summit
  • a steady pace to the top and a more leisurely pace back down
  • lunch on top
  • this is before the main wildflower display but there will be a few early blooms
  • contact the hike leader to be included in this event
With all of the hikes in the Summit Series (and some in the lead-up series of hikes), the hikes may take all day with no predictable return time.

The drives may be longer so riders need to help pay for the costs of the group hike.   High-clearance vehicles with good tires are needed and some of the access routes are harder on vehicles.

Many of the hikes are more difficult and we will be in the backcountry for the day so we need hikers that are self-sufficient, adequately fit, and well-prepared.   These are small group hikes and a team effort makes them successful.

Contact the hike leader if you are uncertain about the listed event.
