Time to take in the gorgeous Alpine Wildflowers up at Sun Peaks!
Please Note: this will be a hike with an average pace but on the leisurely side of things – we will be stopping to take lots of photos of flowers, close-ups, scenery, socialize, etc. It will not be a quick paced hike – the focus is what is around us, and taking all that beauty in!
We will meet up at the Paul Lake Rd Meet Up Area at 8:30 am, and car-pool to the Sun Peaks Lodge Guest Services Ticket area to purchase our own lift tickets by 9:30, to be on the lift when they begin operation at 10:00am. This timing is in hopes of avoiding crowds. We will take the chair lift up to the Sunburst Lodge, and begin the hike on the Crystal Bowl Trail, .8km to Top of The World Trail (1 km) to Juniper Ridge Trail (.6 km loop), find a good spot and sit back, enjoy the views and eat lunch. Then we head back to the Top of The World Trail for another .2km to connect to the Whyte Bowl Trail for 2.5 km, then to the West Bowl Trail (.5 km) ending up back on the Crystal Bowl Trail for 1.8 km, returning to the Sunburst Lodge for the lift ride down.
A nice big loop. Some hikers may wish to stay for ice cream cones, or concert and festival activities.
Total distance = 7.4 km. Elevation at Mid Mountain (Sunburst Lodge) is 1850m, and Top of the World is 2080m. It may not sound like lots of vertical, but there is some up-n-down. Here is a link to the Sun Peaks trail map, if curious:

Lift tickets are available online or at the ticket counter on mountain. Regular price $23.00. I am looking into whether or not we have a Club Discount, and will edit this posting with any new information, as and when it is received.
BRING: 10 essentials, LOTS of water – this hike is almost ALL exposed, and it gets HOT up there (seriously!). Wear LOTS of Sunscreen and bring it along. A good coverage hat, packable windbreaker, sunglasses, bug spray, lunch, good hiking shoes and socks, poles if desired.
