My passion for the outdoors began as a young child.I spent much of my young years exploring the forests near my home in Coquitlam with whoever I could talk into joining me.By my teens I was dragging out my little brother and the few friends that were keen to join my adventures on the many coastal mountain trails near Vancouver. As a solo backpacker/traveler, I ventured out at 20 to travel and hike trails in New Zealand and then Australia where I spent the next 10 years of my life having children and continuing to travel.I have been a leader with the Kamloops Hiking Club since we began in 2001. I love to share my passion for hiking, backpacking and snowshoeing with the many friends I have met through the club.Life is ever so good on the trail with like minded companions.
As a leader, I typically post moderate to harder hikes. My backpacking events are always posted as harder to challenging. This is because you have much more weight on your back over a much longer period of time. I like to hike at an easy to moderate pace depending on the event.I will adjust the hike pace if someone needs to start out slower to catch their breath. If you join one of my backpacks, expect some long days with plenty of breaks to “smell the flowers” and maybe even dip your feet in a creek. “Forgot not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the wind longs to play with your hair.”Kahlil Gibran. If you are a marathon hiker then my events are probably not for you.To me, life is already too much of a marathon.Time on thetrail is time to reconnect with ourselves and nature.”Seek out those places that feed your soul.”Author Unknown.
