Description
Another Winter Walk in the Woods – wwww@Jan.15
- meet at Aberdeen Mall at 10:00
- carpool to the trailhead at Lodgepole Lake on the Chuwhels Mountain Road
- we will do a loop to the south and west of the lake; if there are tracks we will follow them and we will probably break trail too
- article – Chuwhels Snowshoeing
- article – Lodgepole Loop
- we will snowshoe together and follow the same route;Â parallel tracks okay; doing your own thing increases the leader’s stress level and fragments the group so don’t join the event if this is your style
- dress for the conditions
WWWWs:
- all hikes or snowshoe events will be 2.0-3.5 hours
- early season routes will be easier; later season events will be all-day routes
- locations will be dependent on snow conditions and will be chosen 7-10 days out from the date
- Plan B routes will be chosen if it snows heavily or rains
- we will try to avoid cancellations, but will comment to the event if heavy rains or very cold weather is predicted
- most wwwws will take place at 3000 feet elevation and higher
- all wwww events will start at 10:00 at a meetup spot tbd – watch the listing
- participants must be adequately fit to hike on the snow or snowshoe for 2-3+ hours
- all outings will be in the forest and not on pay-for-use trails
- dress for the conditions
- dog friendly, but if the snow is deep or the temperature is very cold, please choose wisely
- Good snowshoes, gaiters, and poles are recommended
- bring a bag for your snowshoes (no damage to vehicle interiors)
- bring something to sit on for our lunch break
