Description
An outing set up for new members. Renewing members are asked to not register for this event unless it doesn’t fill in the last 48 hours.
- Snowshoe the Dogwood Marshes area near Bush Lake
- Watch for my black Toyota Tacoma truck; I will put some flagging tape on the aerial for this meetup
- riders will pay $5 to the drivers, as per KHC carpooling policy (members are welcome to take their own vehicle too); bring a change of shoes to wear in the vehicle after we return to the trailhead
- participants will need winter boots, snowshoes, etc. Gaiters and poles recommended.
- dress for the weather
- not a novice event, but not a difficult one either
- events range from easy to very difficult so pick the right one for you (for more difficult events, the leader may contact you if he/she is unsure of your fitness/capacity)
- snowshoeing is like hiking, but takes a bit more fitness and balance; if you are a novice, we recommend that you get out on the Stake Lake trails a couple of times before joining a group event
- watch for updates to this listing over the last 48 hours (this applies to all events)
- if it is very cold or snows heavily, watch for updates too (leaders usually comment to the event over the last 48 hours)
- we will stop of a short lunch break so bring something to sit on (some of us carry inflatable pillows to sit on); some of us carry hot tea in a small thermos too
- Important – please review the Ten Essentials list (see the link at the bottom) of this event; be self-sufficient on the trail (every time)
- please note that it is always the prerogative of the event leader to decide if dogs, Guests, or minors are allowed on the particular event (see the KHC policies on the website)
- please cancel in a timely fashion if you can’t make it (no shows are not acceptable) – Click Your Bookings on the site menu to see your bookings and make any needed cancellations.
- participants are expected to stay with the leader in general, but can discuss other plans with the leader; since the leader is responsible for you, never leave on your own (which would result in a 911 call and follow-up by the KHC Exec. – a very big no-no)
- if you have questions, you can email the event leader or comment to the event listing
- leaders are volunteers so be positive (even if you have difficulties) every time
- welcome to our new members
