Description

Please note that we have heard that there is a lot of new deadfall on the trail so the trail may be a bit of a challenge.   We will take the time to use handsaws and to move smaller falls where we can.

A fall hike onto the Bonaparte Plateau to climb to the top of Skoatl Point

  • meet at Westsyde Shopping Center to carpool to the trailhead
  • a longer drive on backroads (Jamieson Creek FSR then the Windy Lake FSR) with the final km on  a high-clearance narrow track
  • hike for about 9 km (3 hours)
  • article on the trail – Skoatl Point 2016
  • the final section is a steep scramble on rock, not suitable for those with a fear of heights (click the link to the article for photos)
  • click the location link for more info
  • lunch on top of Skoatl
  • this is a trail we can do in marginal weather so we won’t cancel unless it is very wet
