Description
An early hike to the Savona Caves
- meet early because it is forecast to be a hot day
- meet at the Hillside Drive meetup to carpool or convoy at 8 am
- drive to Savona, then up the Tunkwa Lake Road, then a short ways up the Savona Mountain Road (suitable for all vehicles)
- hike up to the caves – 2.3 km
- the route starts easy, then gets progressively more difficult
- some light scrambling at the top
- lunch at the caves
- steep and often slippery coming back down – good boots, poles, and possibly traction devices advised
