Description
A hike on top of Red Plateau from the Red Plateau Forest Service Road
- meet at the Pimple parking area (2.7 km past the Frederick Road) on the Tranquille – Criss Creek Road (by the junction with the Red Plateau FSR) at 9:30 (map below)
- although KHC is not organizing carpooling, members can organize their own rides; I will send out an email to all registrants prior to the date, with email addresses provided
- we will drive up the FSR for 4.5 km (high clearance)
- hike on tracks out to the Red Plateau Escarpment Rim, then along the Dewdrop Traverse Trail
- lunch at a viewpoint
- another good area to get lost (and it has happened before) so please stick with the leader
- return by another route to create a 10 km loop
- mosquitoes may be busy
- this is backcountry so take the usual precautions
- hydration will be important
- since we have 5 hike leaders, we can run this as 2 staggered groups
