Description

A more difficult hike up, across, and down the Red Plateau Escarpment

  • meet at the trailhead for the Dewdrop Trail
  • hike up the Ragged Red Ridge Route to the top of the escarpment (difficult with some steep sections, loose footing and some light scrambling)
  • article on the Ragged Red Ridge Route
  • lunch on top of the ridge (great views)
  • Follow the Dewdrop Trail down to the bottom
  • tick season
  • a rugged and remote area, but the leader has done these routes dozens of times
  • this hike is best suited to self-sufficient hikers with adequate fitness, experience on rough terrain,  and good preparation
  • Good boots and hiking poles recommended; proper gear is an essential for the loose footing and exposed route
  • I have added a second group since we have more leaders.   If this fills, we will have 2 groups of 5 each, staggered 15 minutes apart.
