Description
A crossing and a hike around the shoreline of Rabbit Island
- a unique hike for a small group
- meet at McArthur Island (southeast corner parking area) by 10:00 (arrive early)
- walk out to the sandbars
- we will be crossing the narrow, shallow channel either on foot
- there is no guarantee you won’t get wet (but it will be fun)
- once on the other side, we will change, if we need to, stow the SUP up on the island, then walk around the island
- lunch on a beach, on the island
- return by the same method
- if you cross the channel on foot, the water is cold so wear water shoes, old running shoes, removable pants, bring a towel, use a pole, etc. then change on the other side; we will stow that gear for our return trip
- not a good choice if you dislike cold feet, getting wet, can’t swim, etc. but a fun event for those with a bit of adventure.
- I have done this a dozen times and here is one article from one of the ventures – Rabbit Island Ramble
