Description

With so many new members and many renewing members getting back into seasonal hiking, I wanted to help out a bit and since I am going to hike a favorite route on Sunday, the last day of March, I thought I would invite a few members to join me.     I can only handle about 12 so another leader may offer an additional event for those who miss booking a spot.

  • an earlier start for me – meet at 9:00 at the Ord Road meetup spot (check the MeetUp Locations Page for more information)
  • carpool to the trailhead in the Dewdrop Range ($3 or drive yourself)
  • hike for 4 km with no trails, but outstanding views in a special area
  • one rougher downhill traverse to link up the two areas to create a convoluted loop
  • some looser material underfoot and some wandering among whatever we come across, all more fun for everyone, with the right frame of mind
  • an average pace and some time to take photos and enjoy whatever we find; if you want to hike faster, this may be the wrong hike for you
  • stay in touch with the leader because the route will not be obvious and we want this to be a group hike
  • a tea break at the halfway point
  • there will be a number of local wonders – basalt columns, lava flows, the river delta, wind-shaped trees, emergence of wildflowers and herbs, wide views, and the beauty of the Dewdrop
  • we will enjoy the sounds and sights of nature along the route
  • ticks will be out
  • dress for the weather
  • watch the listing and comments for updates
