Description
UPDATE: written on Friday, August 7 –
Due to a forecast on Saturday for 60-70% rain and wind gusts up to 49km/hr, Ian, Liz, and I are rescheduling this hike one day forward. Going on Sunday, Aug 9. Same meet-up times, etc. No shuttle operating between parking lot and trailhead, so we will hoof it. Total hike distance including that extra hoof is approximately 14.4 km. Bugs are bad – bring spray and bug hat if you have one. Most of this hike is exposed, so be ready for the sun! (Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses..)
— REGISTRATION OPENS JULY 23 at 8:00 AM —
A hearty “Thank You” to Ian & Liz Cornish for volunteering to Partner-Lead this hike and opening up extra spaces!
An out-n-back hike up to Eva Lake at Mt Revelstoke National Park, approx 15km, Elev Gain 493m, and likely about 6 hrs on the trail.
We will meet at 7:00am at the Valleyview Arena Parking Lot to arrange “caravaning”. (..there is a park entry fee of 10$ per person, or, much better – $20 per vehicle with up to 7 passengers allowed. It is approx a 2.5 hr drive to the Park, then another 26km up the narrow and winding “Meadows in The Sky Parkway” to the shuttle bus (Balsam Lake) parking area. From there, the Summit Shuttle Bus transports visitors between the parking area and the summit. Once there, we will hit the trail and hike to Eva Lake, have lunch and maybe a swim ( ; D ), then head back down for home. A long day but so worth the drive – absolutely gorgeous flowers & scenery at around 1939m altitude. You may want to bring gaiters….cuz you never know. Sunscreen. And bug spray, etc.
