Description
Come join us on Nov 17/18 for a hike to Mt Baldy in Sorrento. This is a beautiful 6 k round trip trail that will take you uphill in a zig zag fashion through a forested area to reach a scenic viewpoint over Shuswap lake. We will hike through a Douglas forest, ravines and perennial creeks while crossing several small bridges. A must see trail as it also encompass hiking through a poplar area , trembling Aspen and cottonwoods. The trembling Aspen area will take your breath away as it just “appears” when you least expect it and I can guarantee that we will take a few moments to enjoy this natural beauty and yes…cameras will come out! After a 3 k climb, we will reach our destination to a scenic viewpoint of Shuswap lake and Copper Island where we will have lunch and enjoy the view.
– Bring a lunch, water,your ten essentials, hiking poles will be helpful, camera and of course, your smile!
-Dress for the weather, layers and bring your cleats as there may be some icy sections.
-Be prepared to stay with the group at all time .
-This hike should take about 3 hours including breaks and lunch at the viewpoint.
– Remember that this hike is a steady climb for 3 k.
– For those coming from Kamloops, meet at the Valleyview arena at 09:30 sharp to arrange carpooling and be prepared to leave shortly after.
– The Kamloops participants will meet the Chase group and hike leaders at the trailhead.We should be at the trailhead by 10:30
