Description

On January 13th at 7:15 Am everyone who wants to join the 5 day hiking experience to Mt. Assiniborne will be meeting at the BC Conservation office at 1B 1445 McGill Road where we will all be calling to get the required reservations for the sleeping huts. The phone lines open at 7:30 AM and we will be dialing until our call is answered. What we will have a “call center” where we are all continuously calling trying to get through to book the needed huts or tent pads. All those at the call-in will have reservations. So if you are not able to be there have a substitute to do your calling. Without a reservation there is no hike. Our preferred date is Wednesday August 5th with the 7 and 9 as possibles. These dates are the helicopter flight days.

As the helicopter can carry 6 hikers at a time we are planning for not more than 12 hikers, who when hiking, will split-up in small group doing different hikes at different speeds.

Options include helicoptering in and out (for a cost of just under $200 each way), hiking in and out, or flying in and hiking out (or vice versa). Sleeping huts with wood-fueled heaters ranging from four to eight sleeping berths can be RESERVED.  The current cost is $20 per night per person. Tent spaces can also be booked (for $15 per pad). Both tenters and those in the sleeping huts will have access to the dining hut where we prepare our own food.

When we have our reseverations we will meet again, tentatively on Sunday February 2nd, at 10 AM were helicopter flights can be established and many other details such as; transportation, food, equipment etc can be discussed.
