Description
A glorious hike in the Marble Range up to the scenic summit of Mount Bowman.  This hike starts out on a good trail following Pipeline Creek in the Marble Range. This is the same trailhead as for Wild Horse Ridge and it divides at the 2.6 km mark at a small campground .  The trail continues alongside a small creek through marshy meadows before emerging onto an open, grassy ridge.  The trail is faint in the grassy meadows but we continue on to the base of the summit. Here the best option is to angle up to the left towards the largest of the scree slopes. A steep scramble up 200 vertical meters on loose scree, limestone rock formations, and low shrubs leads up to the peak.  A steep climb without a good trail leads up to amazing views of the Marble Range and the backside of the Coast mountains.
This will be a full day hike with a good amount of elevation and off trail hiking.  Good boots and poles will be an advantage, and plenty of water as it could be a hot day.
We will make an early start at the meet up spot as it is a long drive to trailhead and we will take our time hiking to the top.  An exploratory adventure for the leader so be prepared for some trailfinding time wasters!!
If weather is forecast to be bad on Sunday this event may run on Saturday 14th.
**Given current gas prices be considerate of your driver if you choose to car pool. This could be $15/20 each – check with your driver.
