Description
A hike from the Mara Canyon Trailhead, up a ridge to the west of the canyon, to the west summit of Mara.
The route up may be slick and muddy. Once at the base of the cliffs below the summit, we will traverse west and find an appropriate location to scramble to the top. The overall elevation gain will be 750m over a short route (less than 5 km), so it will be steep all the way up. We will find an alternate route down through the grasslands to the west.
This will be a more challenging route than the other routes up to Mara. We will keep a steady pace but will break for quick breathers on the way up. Lunch at the top.
This event will be weather dependent. This would be a very difficult route in the rain, so the event will be cancelled if conditions are not favorable. Keep an eye on the listing for updates.
