Today Friday the 13th, I checked out the trail into the creek bed and all was bare and dry. There was a trickle of water so if it doesn’t snow a lot we should be fine. However, today was near freezing with a big wind so dress really warm and bring a hot drink.

With reference to the coronavirus, “the most dangerous place is near the toilet paper aisle at Costco”!! Please read the KHC statement. On our hike, it is a single file pathway and we need to allow at least a good pole length between ourselves.

We will meet as planned which is the dog park on Ord Road. It is a 10-minute drive to the trailhead and the road is decent.

UPDATE: Due to the snow and freezing temperature at night there could be unacceptable slippery sections getting down to the creek bed. I’ll be checking the route on Friday and will also check an alternative hike which also has great photography possibilities.  Bring your traction devices.

Good morning, New Members!

I’m posting introductory hikes every day from Monday, March 9th through to Saturday, March 14^th.  As I don’t know your ability levels, all hikes will be slow and easy. On the trail we will discuss equipment, safety, and other hikes around Kamloops. Dress for the weather (think onion), or multiple layers. Bring a snack and at least a liter of fluid, poles and, your camera.

Saturday: Make sure you bring your camera for the rock formations are “inspiring”!! The entrance to the canyon has a short steep climb on old volcanic rock and a shorter walk down on loose footing material. After that, we are in a creek bed and often on a trail.
