Description
Carole and I will lead a hike on a route in the southwest area of Mara Mountain. I led a hike in this area in 2023, this year the route will be extended about another 1.5 km, gaining approximately 350 meters total. From here there are some amazing views of the Mara hoodoos from above. The majority of the hike will be off trail with a few scrambles both on the way up and the way back down. Today the trail had some sections of mud but I made it in and out without any problems. We will hike at a slower to moderate pace allowing time to enjoy the views and take photos. Bring your hiking essentials, poles, dress for conditions, bring a lunch and your camera. We will have a break at our high point, long enough for people have lunch and to explore and take photos. Bring a spare pair of shoes &(and clothes if you slip in the mud) for the drive home. We will meet at the Aviation Way dog park to arrange car pooling, the road to the trailhead is very muddy. No dogs on the event.
