Description
A loop route in the High Country on New Years Day
- a route across ponds, through the forest, across cutblocks, and on double tracks, possibly breaking trail (leaders will break trail for the group)
- it is a general route which we have done before but we often vary the exact path, depending on conditions
- suitable for intermediate snowshoers
- because we will be breaking trail and also doing some forest traverses between tracks, there will be some fitness and snowshoe-experience issues
- we will stay together for safety
- article on the route – Lodgepole Lake Snowshoeing (this will give you a sense of the kind of route)
- another article – Snow and Trees at Lodgepole Lake
- meet at 10:00 at the Aberdeen Mall meet-up spot to organize carpooling
- drive to the trailhead at Lodgepole Lake (30 minutes) (riders – $4)
- snowshoe for about 3 hours
- lunch along the way (bring something to sit on)(a small thermos is another good idea)
- bring a warmer jacket for our lunch break
- recommended – gaiters and poles
- new members – it would be best to contact the leader just to make sure this is the right event for you
- watch the listing for updates, posted as comments
