Description

This route follows some old homestead trails, and may also involve some route finding and breaking trail.  We may see remnants of an old sawmill, homestead ruins, and relic vehicles.  We’ll be going from Lac du Bois to the Dumont homestead area.  See Doug’s great article here for some history and a description of the general area: https://www.kamloopstrails.net/lac-du-bois-homesteads-hike/

Meet at the Batchelor heights cattle guard for carpooling to the trailhead (about 20min up the road).  Winter tires are required as we may encounter compact snow and ice. Please bring a few dollars for drivers if you are carpooling.

Bring snowshoes and boot cleats/traction, as we may modify gear depending on the conditions. Bring poles if you like.  Warm layers required, as weather may be variable.  Bring a lunch or snack for our break. Also see the 10 Essentials list.

Please comment below if you would like to bring a dog (2 max).

Please arrive at the meet up spot a few minutes before 10:00 so we can arrange carpooling etc.
