Description
If you are thinking of doing any backpacking this summer and want to try out your loaded pack and heavier boots this is the hike for you. Â A moderately hilly 7 km loop in Kenna Cartwright park to enable you to find the places that your pack and boots don’t fit!! Â Anyone is welcome to come along without their full pack, or with doggies, but be prepared to be slower to enable the tortoises to complete the loop. Â If you bring your pack try to load to at least 30 lbs.
We will meet at the Pacific Way parking area (up the hill behind Duffy’s Pub) and do a scenic moderately hilly loop to give you some ups and downs to test out the gear.  This loop usually takes 2 hours, with breaks, so I have allowed a 3 hr window for a slower pace and some more breaks.
Bring plenty of water – there is none available on the route – and some snacks or light lunch.
