Still looking to play on the snow. This trip will take you up the steep trail leading to both Needle and Flatiron Peaks. Our snowshoe will start with a one to two hour climb until we reach the ridge below Needle Peak. We will then transverse across to Flatiron peak, dropping down 100 meters and then climbing back up another 170 meters.

This is a steep and demanding hike. Bring both snowshoes and micro spikes as an alternative if there is no new snow and the trail is packed down.

Meet at 8:00am at the Hillside – Aberdeen meet-up location for carpooling.

The drive is approximately 160 km to the Zopkios Rest Area. If parking is permitted we can cross under the highway and park below the works yard.

I am returning member to the Kamloops Hiking Club and looking forward to volunteering as a hike leader. My passions include trail running, skiing, snowshoeing and cycling. I am always looking for new trails and places to enjoy the solitude of the mountains. I recently became more interested in the knowing the flora and fauna of the paths I wander. This could be a result of the alone time spent during the last few ultra trail marathons (24 to 48 hours) I have ran.

Recent trail vacations included those in the US National Parks of Utah, Bryce Canyon, Zion, and Horseshoe Bend. A big thrill was to finally see the geysers of Yellowstone.
