Description
**This hike is subject to good weather conditions – please check this posting for changes or cancellation due to poor weather!
An incredible out and back trail to the Enderby Cliffs featuring stunning views, lovely forests, and wildflowers. On a breezy day, you can watch birds ride the wind up the cliff face and soar right over your head at the top. Clearly they are enjoying themselves. : )
We will meet at the Valleyview Arena Lot (North End) at 8:00 am. An early start, but best to beat the heat. We will carpool to the Enderby Cliffs. Car-poolers to pay $10 to driver. Portable restrooms are available at the Enderby Cliffs Lot. Begin hike at approx 10am. Average/leisurely pace with stops for photography along the way, (if you like to go faster, this may not be a good hike for you) lunch & rest break at the summit, then hoof down back to the parking lot.  After the hike, those that wish to will head over to reward themselves with a nice big ice cream cone at Sutherland’s Bakery & Ice Cream Shop {LOTS OF FLAVORS! – 1701 George St, Enderby} and “fortify” ourselves for the ride back home.
Total distance: approximately 13-14km with an elevation gain of just under 700 meters. (It’s a gooood hoof!) BC Parks says: “The Tplaqin Trail at Enderby Cliffs Provincial Park is a strenuous hike with significant elevation gain. Carry water and wear appropriate footwear.” I’ve worn runners on this trail and did have sore feet at the end of the day. Hiking Boots are the best. Be good to your feet!
Bring:Â 10 Essentials (please review this list if you have not already done so), lots of water, BUG SPRAY (the forested areas have been “mosquitoey” every single time I’ve been), sunscreen, lunch, camera/cell phone, hat, good shoes, hiking poles (very useful here), etc.
